Every spring, each public and private middle school in Onondaga County is asked to select one seventh or eighth grade student to participate in Science Horizons. The schools select students based on the following criteria:

  • Interest in the sciences

  • Openness to new ideas

  • Enjoyment of learning and problem solving

  • High degree of self motivation

  • Academic achievement

  • Cooperative attitude and willingness to follow directions

  • Ability to work with others
