"IRS - Tax Law Updates" - Learn about the significant income tax law changes for 2007 and how they will affect the next filing season’s tax forms and publications.
"NYS - Tax Law Updates" - NYS Tax representative will present the 2007 legislative changes for both personal and business income taxes. Discussion of new forms and new requirements for various credit forms will take place. Updates on NYS tax electronic filing and the mandate will also be presented.
"IRS - Miscellaneous Topics" - Stakeholder Liaison will provide updates to their key initiatives and will discuss several items of interest including Form 8300, campus compliance services, EITC updates, identity theft tips and more.
"NYS multi-tax audit practices and NYS collection procedures" - NYS Taxation will address the Audit Division's efforts to increase voluntary compliance through the use of multi-tax audits and referrals to Revenue Crimes Bureau. NYS Taxation will discuss ongoing issues within the Collections and Civil Enforcement Division regarding the collection process.
"Money Laundering Prevention" - If you have clients operating money services businesses, learn about reporting requirements under the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), including the reporting of foreign financial accounts (FBAR).
"Navigating Retirement Plans: From guidance to compliance with tools to keep you on the right course" - The Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA), signed into law on August 17, 2006, is the most sweeping pension legislation in over 30 years and includes a number of significant tax incentives to enhance retirement savings for millions of Americans. This session will focus on the need-to-know provisions of the PPA that are currently effective and relate to defined contribution plans and how to stay abreast of the IRS guidance on implementing these changes. We will also discuss the Automatic Enrollment provisions effective in 2008.
"Insolvency Issues" - Bankruptcy is quickly becoming an issue for many taxpayers. Hear from the IRS on how to guide your client through a bankruptcy, cancellation of debt or the taxation of a foreclosure.
"IRSCounsel's Role and How It Affects You" - Learn about Counsel and how they can assist you in your practice. Various topics will be addressed including tax advice on recent issues.
