Master of Social Science Admission

Admission to the program is based upon assessment of undergraduate degree transcripts, recommendations, and personal essay. No standardized tests are required for admission, except for the TOEFL if your native language is other than English.

Students may take up to four M.S.Sc. courses on a nonmatriculated basis, with the permission of the faculty director, whether or not they intend to complete the degree. This coursework may be applied toward another degree program or may be taken purely for personal enrichment.

M.S.Sc. students interested in continuing their studies on the doctoral level have found no difficulty entering a Ph.D. program at Syracuse or other universities. If you wish to discuss study beyond the master's degree level, you should contact the program chairperson.

Apply at any time! Apply online. If you would like a brochure mailed to you, please call 1-800-442-0501, or email parttime@uc.syr.edu. If you have additional questions, e-mail mssc@uc.syr.edu.
