Syracuse University's English Language Institute (ELI) offers international students concentrated study to improve English proficiency for academic or professional advancement. The ELI faculty are highly qualified and experienced. Instructors and staff take a personal interest in the students.

Mission: The ELI meets the English language needs of its students by offering appropriate programs. The ELI does this by recognizing the reasons for which individuals seek to enhance their English language skills and designing courses to meet those purposes, e.g., academic, professional, technological, social, or cultural.
