Prior Learning Assessment

Adult students may bring potential transfer credits and on-the-job training that may be recognized as college-level achievement. To find out if your prior learning can be credited toward a Syracuse University, contact the University College admissions at (315) 443-3261 or by email to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor.

The Prior Learning Assessment requires you to develop a portfolio of prior college-level learning that identifies and documents the learning and how it applies to your degree program. The portfolio is reviewed and evaluated to determine if credit is awarded. You must be matriculated in a degree program and may apply for prior learning assessment when you reach junior status.
