| Undergraduate students must meet the following
requirements to be eligible for most financial aid through University
College:
- Be matriculated through University College and enrolled part-time
(1 to 11 credit hours per semester) as a regular student in an
eligible program. Only courses taken at SU will be considered
when determining your financial aid eligibility. For student loans,
enrollment of at least six credits per semester is required.
- Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
- Demonstrate financial need, using the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid.
Note: Federal unsubsidized Stafford and private loans, the UC Achiever Scholarship,
and the UC Incentive Grant are available to students regardless
of need.
- Be in good academic standing and making satisfactory progress
in your course of study.
- Not already have a bachelor's degree.
- Have a high school diploma, a General Education Development
(GED) Certificate, or pass a test approved by the U.S. Department
of Education.
- Not be in default on a student loan or PLUS loan.
- Not owe an overpayment on any Title IV grant or loan.
- Register with the selective service, if required.
- Submit tax returns, W2 earnings statements, and other required
income documentation.
- Have a FAFSA on file at Syracuse University (Federal Code: 002882).
NOTE: Financial Aid for Flexible
Format Classes
Register early for flexible format classes if you wish to receive
financial aid! Students who expect to receive financial aid must
register by the add deadline of the standard term within which the
flexible format class is offered. Stafford loans for students in
flexible format classes that begin later within the standard term
may disburse on dates varying from those published for the standard
term. Therefore, refund processing may also be affected. If you
are anticipating the need for financial aid to pay for a class that
starts after the official start date of the standard term, you should
contact your UC Financial Aid Advisor during early registration
for information and assistance.
